Our Story

What began as a one-time volunteer opportunity for founder Ashley Kanney, soon grew into a dedicated mission to address childhood food insecurity in our community. With a focus on filling gaps, Feed The Kids Columbus (FTKC) launched to provide support where it was most needed—ensuring students have access to food during extended school breaks and snacks throughout the school day. To our knowledge, FTKC offers the only comprehensive snack program of its kind in Columbus, giving students the “food tools” they need to stay focused, learn effectively, and manage hunger-related challenges. From its start in Ashley’s garage, supporting just 97 students, FTKC has expanded to reach over 8,600 children across 30 schools in Greater Columbus, impacting lives and creating lasting change.
